Tiger nuts are allergy friendly, raw, AIP and Paleo. A natural pre-biotic they are great for gut health, and packed with Vitamin E, Omega 9. But what do you ACTUALLY do with them?! You can eat them straight from the bag, make a ‘nut free’ milk add to smoothies and juices, use them in baking, add to your Paleo granola, add into salads, or our favourites – turn into ‘porridge’ or Paleo/AIP fruit crumbles.
These Chufa De Valencia are a special type of tiger nut named after the geographic origin (just like Champagne and Parma Ham) and protected and regulated by the Chufa de Valencia Regulatory Council. This means strict quality guidelines are maintained when growing, harvesting and drying these organic and fair trade tiger nuts. These are sourced direct from farms in Valencia to ensure authenticity and freshness. Different to the African tiger nuts, these are smaller, creamier and have a lighter colour and longer shape.
The Tiger Nut Company
We’ve been big fans of tiger nuts after discovering them in Wholefoods USA and were so excited to find a company in the UK dedicated to these tiny prebiotic tubers that taste great as milk, in porridge and even baked into cookies. So Ani and Chris at the Tiger Nut Company were one of the first suppliers we contacted. Ani (a UK Paleo Awards 2017 judge) grew up drinking horchata in Barcelona and once Chris tried it he was hooked. They set up The Tiger Nut Company, to share and spread what they call the #Tigernutlove.
